Responsible to the Director of Development

Social Engagement Committee

This committee is charged with the responsibility for encouraging sustainability and social justice as integral aspects of our personal, professional, and ethical choices.

The Board of Directors appoints the Chairperson on the recommendation of the Director of Development. Members of the committee are recommended by the Chairperson and appointed by the Board. The term of office is three (3) years with staggered appointments to provide continuity. Members may be appointed for successive terms.

A review of the members of this committee will be conducted by the Director of Development as each members’ term of office concludes. The review will consider the members availability and interest in resigning or continuing in the role. It will include identifying possible contenders for the role in this committee prior to the completion of the term to ensure continuity.

The chairperson submits an annual report to the Director of Development for presentation to the Board of Directors for the AGM.

Goals of the committee are to:

  • Encourage members to reflect on how global challenges of sustainability and social justice affect our professional community
  • Encourage and support members to connect and engage in meaningful open dialogue and collaboration to debate how these global challenges impact on day-to-day practice as a transactional analyst
  • Support members to navigate these complexities and consider how to implement in best practice

Strategies to achieve the committee goals include

  • Identify appropriate current global challenges that will engender members interest in attending up to three ITAA webinar per year

  • Facilitate an environment where members can fully engage and dialogue
  • Stimulate a collaborative approach to contemplating how to apply these sustainable and social justice ideals within their practice
  • Encourage participants to explore and share frameworks in order to navigate the complexity of these global challenges of sustainability and social justice in their personal as well as professional lives

The social justice committee oversees how the organisation can support its members to provide best practice to their clients.  It does this through:

  • Being open to feedback from members about what topics they would like to debate, discuss and find workable solutions
  • Providing stimulating and thought-provoking webinars that are well planned and advertised

The committee is also co-responsible for the continued growth as well as retention of ITAA members through providing these professionally and practical stimulating webinars.
